FAMILY PRESERVATION SOCIAL WORKER
Salary: $80,000 – $89,000 depending on experience + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
Location: Western Sydney
The Family Preservation Social Worker will will work intensively to support Aboriginal families with psychosocial vulnerabilities that have high child protection risks. The role will be to provide in home therapeutic family support, triage and referral, and will work collaboratively with the Family Preservation Caseworkers in a culturally responsive model. You will work intensively with a small caseload of families who have been flagged by child protection services as being at risk of having their children enter Out of Home Care. You wlll provide in-home, individually tailored parenting support to facilitate and repair attachment between carer and child. Liaise closely with caseworkers who will be managing the other support needs of the family, triage therapeutic needs of parents and children, and make appropriate referrals in partnership with Caseworkers. You will work to increase stability in the family unit and support positive family functioning with the aim to eliminate child protection risk. You will provide evidence-based interventions to support families where mental health difficulties, domestic violence or alcohol and substance misuse is present, and you will produce clear and timely reports and notes for client files.
- Qualified Social Worker
- Willingness to undergo any relevant checks, including a Working With Children’s Check
- Strong background working with Aboriginal communities
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working therapeutically with parents, families and children/ young people.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children
- Good computer and written skills
